Why the answer is structural
A directory can make money two ways. It can sell the people who visit it — passing enquiries to whoever pays most for them, taking a cut of the fee that follows. Or it can sell advertising at a flat price and leave the visitor alone. We do the second, on purpose.
- We do not sell leads, and never have.
- We do not take a percentage of any attorney’s fee.
- We run no advertising network, and no third-party ad or data broker code.
- Contacting an attorney happens directly between you and them; those messages do not pass through us, so there is no enquiry for us to sell.
Paid placement, when it exists, will be advertising: labelled as such, priced flat, and never able to buy a verification mark, alter a licence fact, or change whether an attorney is listed. That rule is in our editorial standards.
What we hold at all
About visitors: nothing you give us, because there is no account, form or newsletter to give it through. Our host and network keep short technical logs to serve pages and stop abuse — the detail is in the privacy policy.
About attorneys: licence records republished from the public registry of The State Bar of California. That information is published by the state, not gathered by us, and every profile links back to the official record.
Exercising your rights
Write to [email protected]. You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. If you are an attorney asking about your listing, include your bar number so we can find the right record.
We do not require an account to make a request, we do not charge for one, and we do not treat anyone differently afterwards. You may use an authorised agent. If we ever cannot do what you asked, we will tell you why rather than go quiet.
