What we collect from you
Nothing you have to give us. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no contact form, no newsletter and no comments on this site. You can read every page without identifying yourself, and there is no way for you to submit personal information to us through the site at all.
Contacting an attorney happens directly between you and them, using the details on their profile. Those messages never pass through us, and we do not receive, store, or see them. We are a directory, not an intermediary — we do not match, refer, or forward enquiries.
What is collected automatically
Serving a web page requires a request to reach a server, and that request carries technical data: your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser and operating system, and the time. Our host and our network keep short-lived logs of this to deliver pages, keep the site up, and block abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not try to identify you from it.
Analytics
This site runs Google Analytics 4, and only after you have agreed to it. Until you choose Accept, no measurement script is requested and no analytics data leaves your browser. You can verify it: with the prompt unanswered or declined, the pages make no request to any Google domain.
There is still no advertising pixel, no session recording and no fingerprinting. What Analytics gives us is which pages people read and roughly where they arrived from — we do not use it to identify you, and we do not sell or share it. The cookie policy describes the cookie it sets.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare — DNS, CDN and protection against abuse. Our traffic passes through it, so it processes request data including IP addresses, and it may set strictly necessary security cookies.
- Railway — hosting for the application and its database, in the United States.
- Cloudflare R2 — storage for images and other media used on the site.
That is the complete list. We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, lead buyers or anyone else, because we do not have anything about you to share.
Information about attorneys
The listings are built from the public registry of The State Bar of California, which publishes the licence record of every attorney admitted in the state. We publish the name, bar number, licence status, admission date, firm and city as the registry prints them, along with the practice areas attorneys report to the Bar themselves. Every profile links to the official record it was built from and shows the date we last checked it.
We add nothing the registry does not say. There are no ratings, no outcome statistics and no invented entries — the rules are set out in our editorial standards.
If you are an attorney and something on your listing is wrong, or you want it removed, write to [email protected] from any address and include your bar number. We do not require you to prove identity beyond that, and removal does not cost anything — a listing is not a product you have to buy your way out of.
Your rights
California residents have rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is held, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information — see Do Not Sell My Personal Information — and exercising any of these rights costs nothing and changes nothing about how we treat you afterwards. If you are outside California and have rights under another law, ask anyway. We would rather answer than argue about which statute applies.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. Since we collect nothing from anyone, this is a statement of design rather than a promise to police.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not keep a public archive of previous versions yet; if you need to know what this page said on a given date, ask at [email protected] and we will tell you.
