What the counts mean
An active license means the attorney's license was active according to the State Bar of California data used for this snapshot. It does not mean the attorney is currently practicing family law or bankruptcy in a client-facing role, or that the attorney is accepting new clients.
The 774 figure counts board-certification records. Those records are held by 751 unique certified attorneys because some attorneys hold more than one certified specialty. Of those records, 716 are certifications by the State Bar of California's Board of Legal Specialization; the remainder name another certifying body. Certification is that body's judgment, not an AttorneyIndex judgment about an attorney's quality.
